Thread Vein Removal at Pure Clinic

Also referred to as spider veins, thread veins are commonly found on the face and legs, but they can appear anywhere on the body. This condition can develop in anyone at any age and can be treated quickly and effectively with the right advice and treatment.

Facial thread veins are not dangerous but can affect your confidence if left untreated. In rare cases, thread veins can indicate an underlying medical condition, and you will gain more effective results when treated early.

Thread veins and spider veins can be found on the legs and face (usually on the cheeks and around or on the nose) as we age. They are blood capillaries that have become permanently distended and dilated—or occasionally broken. Minor veins and vessels have very thin walls that constantly dilate and constrict. 

Sometimes, as we age, these blood vessels lose their elasticity and can become permanently dilated, leading to thread veins. Typically, these tiny veins and blood vessels in the skin are invisible. Once permanently dilated, the blood is trapped and shows through as a thread vein. The treatment we use permanently closes down these tiny blood vessels, causing the thread veins.  

Fantastic results can be achieved immediately; however, some veins may require up to 3 treatments.

We use Thermolysis to treat facial thread veins.

The treatment works by directing a low Electrolysis current onto the skin surface where the facial thread veins are present. The effect is to cauterise the blood vessel and remove it simply by applying heat.

We will simply tap a slender needle along the affected area, causing a slight stinging sensation that is often described as being no more than a little uncomfortable. Depending on the size of the area to be treated, the treatment can be completed in as little as 15 minutes.

When your treatment is completed, your skin may be slightly red, and the veins appear slightly darker before vanishing over a few weeks. You’ll probably also feel a slight warmth in the treated area.

Usually, the veins look worse for some time before they start to look better. Improvement is often seen in a couple of weeks, but it may take 6 – 12 weeks to show the maximum effect.
